Captain N RE. - Kyle Masterson

CAPTAIN N: REIMAGINED

So here's a continuation of the series of concept art for and idea of a redone sequel called CAPTAIN N: REIMAGINED, where the Original N-team must team up again along with new members to fight a new evil force made up of the villians of Nintendo's past and present. A newcomer is the new gamemaster, Kyle Masterson.

When coming up with the concept, I had some thought on what to do since Kevin Keene is already an established gamemaster, and since he already gone through a lot, it doesn't leave much to explain and expand through maturity; Hence Kyle Masterson was created.

I wanted to go for a normal kid/gamer who, unlike Kevin, was considered a "rookie" and was still maturing, which leaves a great space for ideas on his growth and journey. I also wanted to play on the idea of a "new generation gamer" being contrasted to the "veteran generation gamer" and how the new one can learn from the old, and vice versa.

And so, here's a backstory on Kyle.

Kyle Masterson was a normal 17 year old kid who had issues in his life, his father died when he was 5 years old, and his mothers' almost never home, always working and going to sleep tired. Even though he knows that his mom loves him very much, he can't help but feel alone. At school wasn't better as he was teased and bullied around a lot due to his "Geekness affinity" to video games, however he had a friend named Lara who had a love for game as well, and understood what he's going through.

Unlike most in his town he had a full-paid job at a video game store, where he developed his masterful skills at video games from 8-bit to the latest game console, especially the Wii. He worked under a man named Mr. Miyamoto, who was a genius in video games and could come up with tips and skills on playing. Kyle, when not working, would be taught skills by Mr. Miyamoto on becoming a better gamer.

His life was pretty routine, until one day he noticed an old Gameboy cartridge near an abandoned house that belonged to someone named "Keene". He inspected the cartridge carefully when he noticed that it had no company logo, and that it simply said

"ENTER TO PLAY"

Seeing no one had seen or tried to look for it, Kyle took it home with him; He took out his Gameboy and inserted the card, turned it on, and waited, until he saw a message on the blank screen that said:

"Welcome Gamemaster"

And then something amazing happened, before he even finished the message a blinding light flashed out from the gameboy and started to suck in everything, including Kyle into it's screen.

Kyle spun and turned in the vortex of blue and white lines as he finally comes to, and finds himself in a world different from his, little did he know, he had just answered the beacon call of the Gamemaster and became part of a whole new world. Kyle, with only his wits, his Wii- zapper, and the N-team, He must now face the evil forces that plans to invade the world of Videoland.
